Poor featherweight

I almost cried when I saw this, pretty grungy, rusty and I think a lot of smoke residue. This # says it was born in 1952, but it has centennial badge. No foot pedal.

I don't think I've ever seen a fw in that poor condition! Hopefully the price they are asking is reflective of the condition. Might be worth getting if it's cheap enough.

Hmmm, doesn't look that bad to me. It would clean up nicely I do believe. Other than the stitch length lever it looks complete ( unless the bobbin case is missing ) so it shouldn't cost too much for parts.
I'd give it a shot. Joe |
Awww... it needs your help.
|
If the price is right go for it. I'm with Joe. I think it will clean up.

Please give it a home- and a bath! I bet it would love you right back. I'm near Albany. Where "upstate" are you?
|
I bet it's lovely under all that grime and dirt. I really enjoy cleaning up old things to make them pretty again. Please show us when it is all cleaned up.

That isn't dirt - that is dried up powdered shellac - be very careful to follow Glenn's instructions to fix the finish on that. I'm betting with some TLC it would work just fine and be ready for your next project.

Poor baby, but they can be restored.

Make an offer of $15-$25. With some TLC it can be fixed. Bobbin case should cost about $50 if missing. I would consider it a good investment in time, dollars and experience.
