Pink Monarch Deluxe

2 Attachment(s)
Hey everybody,

First an admission - I know absolutely nothing about sewing, quilting, crocheting, etc. However, I've been cleaning out my mom's house, and found an old Monarch Deluxe sewing machine. I was wondering if anyone could fill me in about it. Also, if you could let me know if there is a market for this that would be great. I would love to find a good home for this machine.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome! Nice looking machine. It was probably made in Japan in the early to mid 50s. It's what is called a clone and is based on the Singer model 15. Yours has enough changes to it from the original design that I would say it was made about the same time they started going to zigzag machines. It should be a good quality machine. The best way to determine value is to take a look at your local Craig's List and make a determination from there. There are just too many variables to give you a good appraisal. The people asking several hundred dollars for similar machines are dreaming. Ignore those ads. Nobody gets rich off old sewing machines. There's too many out there.

I'd love to have it if you're close enough to me. Where are you located?

I think I'd pay to get that one shipped! That is a lovely machine, and pink . . . not that I'll get into a bidding war to get it, especially since I'd need to tack on $35 for shipping to what ever you want for it. :)

Thanks for the great info, Rodney. Much appreciated.

I'm down here in Texas.

Not sure if I'm willing to go through the hassle of shipping.

Well, I'm in Washington so that puts me out of the running. Most of the time a 15 class clone is nothing special, but as you can see from our posts there are exceptions and this is one of them. The pink color makes it desirable to lots of people.

Beautiful machine and it's in a nice-looking cabinet, too. Bless your mom for taking such good care of it.

Around here, similar machines go for about $25 - $50. Were I selling yours here, I would ask at least $50 because it's pink, its condition is excellent, and it's in a good table. Even if it needs oiling and adjusting, it would fetch at least that. Heck, I might even start it at $100 and drop the price every listing period until someone contacts me.

But I have no idea about the Dallas-FW area.

The machine pictured is a zigzag machine, isn’t it?
