Can you ID this sewing machine?

Someone on city data left a reply to this same question and said this was the place to go.

I was given this old sewing machine some years ago, it sat in storage for over 5 years threaded and ready to go! I forgot I had used it back in 2007.

I'm trying to find out what model it is, and who makes it.. There is NOTHING on it, except that word classic, and a 6 digit serial number on a sticker on the bottom.

I think it might be a kenmore made in the early 70's..

Thanks.

I don't think it is a Kenmore. Could be made by the same maker as made Kenmores thought.
If it's a Kenmore it would have a serial number like this: 158-15000 or similar on it somewhere. Usually under the bed on the lip.
More likely it's a Asian made machine that was made for many many different companies.

You could try Relics { http://www.tias.com/stores/relics/ }, they have photos of the machines to look at.

Kenmores are usually pretty clearly identified both with a label or emblem somewhere conspicuous and the metal tag Joe mentioned. It is possible it came out of the same factory as the Kenmore machines though. Some of the companies would put anyone's name on them as long as the buyer had enough money. My avatar is proof of that.

Nice looking though. It does kind of have the look of the old Kenmores, but if it were one, it would be marked.

I looked at over 5,000 pics of sewing machines yesterday and found one kenmore with the same stand alone leg, on the removable table part that goes around the sewing needle area.. It was almost the same color too, thats what got me thinking it was some kind of kenmore.

This is the same basic machine.

all those "button" looking stuff is just stickers, the only working parts are the two knobs that select the stitches displayed.

The part I looked for is the bed configuration - as that is rather unique for an open arm style.

If you look for Dressmaker 101 manuals, you'll find several, and it sure looks like the same machine. I can't find who made it though.

The bad part, I've now seen a whole bunch of really neat "dash board" machines that I'd love to have . . .

At first glance, it looks similar to a Taiwanese Necchi.

Can you find any indication of country of origin?
