HELP!! I lost it again..

A few days ago a picture was posted of a barn quilt and someone drew a paper pieced pattern for it. I am looking for the picture of the barn quilt. I had it saved to my desktop and it disappeared. (DH tends to delete things from the desktop). I can't remember what the thread was. I looked through the main threads but just can't pull the info from my overloaded brain. Can anyone help... please!!!! Thank you in advance

If it was on your desktop and your husband deleted it, did you look in the recycle bin to see if he forgot to empty the trash. It could still be there. You click on it and click to restore and you'll have it back. Good luck

I've found the easiest way to keep patterns or ideas is to have a "quilt" folder with sub-folders, like 4-patch, pin wheels, etc. My husband and I share computers also, but he never bothers any folder I have made.

I, too, had my ideas in folders (even tho' they were copies/alias') for all my hobbies AND had them on my desktop. I thought ithat was a great idea and very handy.

My tech-saavy son, however, said that takes up 'memory space' on the (computer's) desktop and I should not have alias folders on the desktop ...just access the original folders in "the Finder" of documents. Then I can search for the most recent documents on or about the time/month, etc.

Soooo... good luck... I think that photo of the barn quilt - literally - that PatPitter posted above, might be it.

Create your folder anywhere on your PC. If you want to access it easily then create a shortcut and put the shortcut on your desktop. All you have to do them is click on the shortcut and it will take you directly to the folder.

I save things to my desktop that are relatively temporary, because I don't like a cluttered desktop. I save things that I am keeping in a folder in my documents. Because of this I understand your husband's deleting things from the desktop. Ask him where he would like you to save things that you don't want to be dumped. I also agree with romanojg that it might be in the recycle bin. Good luck in the future.

THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!! I usually save all these in a folder on the desktop but was running late that morning and didn't get it saved. DH tends to "clean up" the desktop and delete everything in the recycle bin. Thank you everyone for your help. Now a rare day off to quilt and guess what I'm working on. Happy Quilting everyone!!
