neat stuff or junk?
I bought two "lots" of stuff off eBay - this is one of them (other is still in transit). I was only after a few items, and even with the shipping, I'm happy to pay what I did to get what I got.
Except now I'm not sure what to do with most of it - or even what some of it is! I was after the boat shuttle and hemstitches. Don't have a WW machine that most of these fit (and don't intend to get one either). In your third picture, in the upper right hand corner are some hemmers. I have a set of those too but I don't know what machine they would fit on. I'm also missing the set screw that holds them to the actual foot.

on the next to last picture, the three units on the lower left are W&W bobbin holders
(it looks like a bobbin cover in the lower center (disk like thing)) on the last picture the 3 W&W feet on the right are from a #8 (...we can talk) |
Oh my goodness, you have the patience of Job to sort this stuff out, let alone know what it all is. Thanks for sharing..you are keeping us educated for sure.

I've always thought that a collection of parts would look cool in a window box type picture hanging. If you were to arrange them on a nice fabric, then frame them I think they'd look great with all your other sewing memorabilia. Then, if you ever need a part you can open it up and get to it. Or, get one of those display coffee tables and lay out the parts on a velvet or? to display that way. Lots of options!

oooh fun! I was looking at that lot too. There wasn't enough that I could recognize that made it worth it for me, but it's pretty fun to sort through a grab bag like that.

I think the biggest hurdle in lots like that is determining what everything is. Otherwise it's just random junk. I probably couldn't bid on a lot like that just because I don't have the knowledge to recognize what most of the stuff is, let alone what it fits. Recognising a part as a shuttle carrier or even a foot does me no good without knowing what it fits. Once you know what it is and what it fits, it has value. That's one of the areas where experience like Macybaby's and Steve's really pays for itself.
Congrats on getting those hemmers Macybaby. Do any of those bobbin winders look like they fit a Jones? Rodney |
