Feather Weight tension assembly spring

While working on a Morse Lightweight tension assemble that came undone unexpectedly, I was looking at all my other machines (singers) and noticed that one of my (3) featherweights did not have a tension spring in the assembly. I wondered if it was necessary because the last time I sewed with it (couple of years) it worked just fine.

2nd question: Does anyone have a schematic for the Morse tension assembly? I couldn't find anything on the internet.

I googled Morse sewing machine tension assembly and got some stuff. I don't know if it will help or not.

I did too. I found a very helpful video from Sharon Shambers site but the Morse assembly is different. Found for vintage singers but they were not helpful. Much more simplified than the M assembly too. Thanks.

I did get out my featherweight and it does not sew well without the spring. I must have broken it the last time I used it but I didn't find any broken pieces. I can get a sprng locally
I did find videos on Ask.com about the Morse but still have no luck in getting it back in place. Guess I have to break down and invest in a repairman.
