Can you freeze fresh figs to use at a later time to make Jam?

Bonnie, I freeze figs all the time to make my yearly jams. I make strawberry fig jam. I have also used them when I have made fig bars, just like date bars. They are wonderful in the bar recipe.

Bonnie, I see you are from Michigan. What city if I might ask. I am from the Cereal City, don't miss the weather at all.

Trader Joes sells them frozen in a plastic bag.

My neighbor has a fig tree in his yard and he freezes them...just tosses in bag and uses as needed.

Do you just wash them and freeze them whole?

gennie1950 I am from Clarksville, it is about half way between Grand Rapids and Lansing.

Thank you ladies so much. I got ahold of my first fresh figs last summer and made jam with them and it is wonderful. I have a fig bush or tree growing in my kitchen bay window and it has some started on it already. I'm sure it won't be any where the amount to make a batch of jam, but will save them up till I can find some fresh ones at Cosco again. Thanks again.

We have fig trees. My husband picks them daily and just puts them in freezer bags and eat them like popsicles through out the winter! I used to make fig preserves but haven't due to health issues for a while. Maybe this year I can again. We have to fight the bees and squirrels for them…
