Looking for the name of this quilt block? Thought it might be easy for a beginner? Trying to match a couple of blocks together if you would have a couple of suggestions would greatly appreciate.

Thank you and have a nice day,

Start with the center square, add the side triangles. Do the corners as a unit, and the add to the center. HTH

Oh, not sure about the name tho.

Hmm. The block is pretty simple, but when you start putting those triangles for the corners, you get weird measurements. Either the center square or the triangles can need to be cut with eighth inch measurements. Might be able to cut larger then trim down. Also, you need to be very careful that the corner triangles are cut so that the fabric straight of grain runs along the edges of the block.
Here's a tutorial for the basic square in square center:

Have no clue what the name of the pattern is but sure is pretty. Try Jenny Doan. They may have it. Or go to quilter's cache.

The interesting thing about this block is that when you put a row together is that you get 2 distinct patterns. A pinwheel block and a Square in a square block. I drew out all 3 in EQ7 and then used the pinwheel & SqNSq in an on-point quilt setting. The quilts are the same.

I looked in Block Base and found the block there. It is referred to as N014 Notes say: Economy Patch (Hall) I found a block called Economy Patch on the Internet and the only difference is that the corners are solid, so no pinwheel effect is seen when a quilt is created. http://www.generations-quilt-pattern...ilt-block.html

One from Quilter's Cache http://www.quilterscache.com/E/EconomyBlock.html

Here's another tute on the Economy block. You would have to add Quarter HST's to the corner instead of a solid piece. https://catbirdquilts.wordpress.com/...h-cheat-sheet/
