Just Moved to Denver, CO

I haven't been on the QB in awhile. I have been busy selling a house, moving, starting a new job, buying a new house and getting settled in.

The new house is awesome, I have a huge, bright south facing loft all to myself for my sewing space.

There are two things I could really use your help with though.

1. I need a quilt guild. A group of friendly quilters to get to know would be so awesome. No real preference in respect to the size of the group.

2. And' where to buy fabric. I have been to a few really nice quilt shops in the area, and I will certainly support them. But, I would love to know where to go to get great prices. In Arkansas I enjoyed going up to Marshall's Dry Goods in Batesville a couple times a year...to stock up, you understand! :D

Best prices I have found are at B Right On Sewing in Brighton. All fabric (and it is all name brand, quilt shop fabric) including batiks is $9/yard. They have more than 10,000 bolts and are very pleasant. Pretty regularly they have $8/yard sales, too.

I would search Google to find your LQS. Just enter Fabric Store in "city" and it is amazing what will appear. Thru them, you should be able to find any quilting groups or guilds. That is how I found the groups I belong to after I made a move.

Oh gosh yes, there are many quilt stores around you. more will pop in and tell you but do a search too online. Brighton is a bit far to go for a quilt shop.

I did the search thing, I was hoping for a little local insight.

spstout -- thank you, we are going to be doing some exploring, I will add Brighton to the list. I saw a thing on line for Spring Time in the Rockies in Loveland, CO in April. That looks like it could be fun.

I love Holly's Quilt Cabin. It's in Centennial. (I don't live near there, but my daughter does.)

Try the Wooden Spool on Broadway. All quilt shop quality fabrics and usually about $5/yd. They also have frequent sales.

Congrats on your new home and new location. In addition to supporting your LQS, you do know you can still order on line from Marshalls Dry goods as well!

Holly's Quilt Cabin on the corner of Colorado Blvd and Holly is great. Wooden Spools on S. Broadway buys and sells quilt quality fabric from quilters. The Creative Needle on the corner of Ridge Road and Broadway is my favorite LQS. Arapahoe County Quilters is a huge guild. I belonged to the Parkers Piecekeepers for awhile, they were really nice but too far away for me. Firehouse quilts of Colorado is in Highlands Ranch and they do a lot of great charity work. I am looking in to joining them soon. Your house sounds beautiful. You will love living in Colorado. Welcome!

I'll be coming back to this thread in May, when I'm in the US to visit my friend in Boulder, CO!
