Columbus ohio to New Orleans in March

We are headed south to New Orleans in March. Any good quilt shops on the way? So happy to head south. Tired of the cold weather. Thanks for your help.

Hi! I'm near you in Columbus and if I were you, I'd go NOW! We aren't going to get snow like they will over east but even 3-5 inches is too much! By March it will be getting warmer.....I hope!! Will you be staying south for awhile?

Which route will you be taking?

Howdy: We're also from Ohio (South of Dayton, Ohio) and are still very staunch Buckeye fans. My husband covered the seat of my walker in Ohio State fabric and it is quite a conversation getter. Have met quite a few people from Ohio that way. I still miss Ohio (born and raised there.) Enjoy your trip.

We are going though Nashville

reginalovesfabric 01-27-2015 05:58 AM

are you coming through Hattiesburg MS and Wiggins MS

reginalovesfabric 01-27-2015 06:07 AM

sorry Wiggins has one on 49 and you will be traveling on 59 to go to New Orleans

Hattiesburg has one if you get off on exit 59 the Columbia/Hardy St exit bear to the right get into the left lane if possible, if not stay into the right lane, at the light you can turn and there at that shopping center is our Hancock's then once you can get yourself turned where you can get back to the light and cross over the busy traffic you will see the Michael's shopping center and in that shopping center is Sew Select a quilt store which is hard to get to trying to cross over all the lanes coming off the ramp. Hope this makes sense. Then we have another one called the Stitching Post which is in Oak Grove. This one is about 5 miles from Sew Select.

Hi and welcome to New Orleans. I remember a few years ago, a shop I stopped at, last exit in Tennessee going North. It was in a shopping center and it had more fabrics than I had ever seen. Sorry I can't think of the name right now, maybe someone here can chime in. You are welcome to pm me if you have any questions about New Orleans shops and stuff and I'll be happy to try and help out.

Franklin has some nice quit shops. Franklin is about 15 minutes south of Nashville on I65.

If you want to visit a shop has more fabric than you can shake a ruler at go to Stitcher's Garden. The atmosphere isn't the cheeriest, but it's worth the stop just to see it. Myra never has a sale. She never marks her fabric up either. So if you're patient there is fabric for 8.95/yd. Hopefully Bridget will be there to assist you. Give yourself at least an hour. (Myra turns the lights out promptly at 5 pm.)

It's in the shopping center section that is parallel to HWY 96/Murfreesboro Rd. It's right off I65 at the Hwy 96 Exit (Franklin/Murfreesboro) in Franklin (south of Cool Springs Galleria mall). Exit the freeway, turn right, turn left at the McDonalds light. The shopping center will be about 1/8 mile on your right.

===========================================

Kentucky is supposed to have a few nice shops around Louisville, but I haven't made it there yet.

Elizabethtown, KY has a nice shop, but it's about a 15 minute drive off the freeway. https://uniquequilts.wordpress.com

Whittles is a discount shop in KY about 10 miles off the Corvette Exit on I65. http://www.whittlesfabrics.com/

Make sure the shops are open before you take the back roads. It's a pretty drive though.

I'm headed to southern AL and was surprised it has mostly garment and upholstery fabric shops. Check out my post earlier this month about Shops on coastal AL. There are a few not too far out of your way.

Have a safe trip!

The quilt shop in Paducah KY is named Hancocks of Paducah--this is NOT a Hancocks chain store. Also, while you're in New Orleans make sure to stop at Mes Amis Quilt Shop--incredible.
