Sewing Machine Bobbins

Does anyone know if you can use metal Class 15 bobbins in a new Singer machine that says to use Class 15 J (plastic) bobbins. The two bobbins appear to be the same size. I am hoping to save time and not have to rewind all my metal bobbins  Thanks

No, there's a slight size difference. You should use what the machine is supposed to have.

Not familiar with this machine, but usually a plastic bobbin goes in a plastic bobbin case and a metal bobbin goes in a metal case (I just typed mental case but caught it ;-))
Anyway if you put a metal bobbin in a plastic bobbin case it will abrade the case and ruin it.

That is what I was guessing as well. Thanks.

That is what I am afraid of. Thanks.

Not worth taking the chance of damaging the machine.

It is best to buy the correct bobbin for your machine. In my Bernina, I have always bought official Bernina bobbins. I bought a generic walking to use since I wore out the walking foot that came with the Bernina and it just didn't work as good as good.

Just go with what your machine calls for. I have 2 Singers. I have bobbin case for each machine and each case is labeled. My needles are in separate cases for each machine. I have 16 bobbins that work with my 401 because they were made for my 401. I have that many bobbins for my 2662 because they were made for it. So far I've not had any problems with bobbins that weren't my fault.
