Stitch regulator advice

Hey fellow quilters,
My stitch regulator is giving me fits! Stitches are uneven and speed goes from normal to racing fast. Suggestions for a remedy?

Is it the BSR on a Bernina sewing machine or a stitch regulator on a long arm? If it is the BSR, it only goes as fast or as slow as you move the quilt under it.

You are changing your movement from slow to fast to quick, your movements needs to be steady as well because if you speed up to quick the regulator gets confused and can't speed up fast enough

I've had that happen before, forgot what caused it. One time it wouldn't stop running, had to unplug it. I would turn the regulator off, check to make sure the wheels are turning good If everything looks the plug it back in and unthread the needle at play around with it and see if it works correctly. If not, call customer service.

If it's on a long arm, check the encoder wheels to make sure they are free of threads & lint.

It is on a long arm, will check for thread and lint. Appreciate the advice.
