12" block

If I want to showcase a large floral fabric in a relatively easy to make 12" block ( it's for a swap) what block would you reccommend? Thanks Terri

I would browse quilters cache. They have blocks by size. Here's a link to the 12" section:

How about a disappearing 4 patch, you can use the large floral for 2 of the 4 blocks, and if you place the prettiest part of the fabric in the edge that stays uncut it could really show off the print well.

ditto ................ there are endless possibilities!
What one person likes ... another may not.
What you consider relatively easy ... another may not.

Check it out or one of the many other free patterns sites available, and see what inspires you.

Just Can't Cut it features a 12" block of a single fabric and a pieced block of 5 more. The pieced block is 2 6" finished blocks and 3 that are 3x4 finished. It is a very easy pattern and goes together very quickly. http://store.virginiaquilter.com/sto...3&Item_ID=1191

Another big block pattern is BQ. This is one made with Robert Kaufman fabrics using only 3 fabrics. http://www.robertkaufman.com/quiltin...s_patterns/bq/ The patter is by Maple Island quilts. It is a bit more complicated but easier to put together because the pieces are so big.

Maple Island has several patterns that are good for large print fabrics. http://www.mapleislandquilts.com/quiltpatterns.asp

Square in a frame? Attic window?

The simplest block I can think of to showcase a fabric is a snowball block. Cut your floral fabric 12-1/2"square and cut 4 blocks 3-1/2" square for your corners.
