I just learned 2 new terms to help remember

bump up the front--bumpy side faces quilt top
baggy bottom---bigger quilt block when matching seams goes on the bottom

What else???!!

It would be fun to be able to have a list of helpers.

I learned these terms recently also. Glad I am not the only one they were new to. :)

It's nice to have a clever phrase to help remember. I don't know how many times I've researched which side of the batting goes up - hopefully now I will remember.

Baggy bottom is an easy term to remember for easing in extra fabric. The feed dogs help ease in extra fabric to match a smaller top. I believe the bumpy top term applies to some quilt batts. I use 80/20 quilt batt that doesn't have a right or wrong side.

Hold your tails - hold the sewing machine threads in the back when starting a new seam. Helps to prevent your machine from 'eating' the fabric, and also keeps you from getting a bird's nest on the bottom at the beginning of the seam. Only necessary once if you are chain piecing.

I never have heard of the first but knew about the second. Not sure if there are any more out there. Maybe an old carpenter's saying of Measure Twice Cut Once??

If you have an old singer machine like a featherweight one term is NFL, needle flat left and it threads right to left.

Thanks!! I always have to dig out my instruction book when I thread my featherweight!.
