Recommendation for Lancaster Quilt Shops

Taking our 5th wheel to Gettysburg & Lancaster early May. I know there are a lot of quilt shops in the Lancaster area. Does anyone have any suggestions for a really good quilt shop? I am limiting myself to 2 or 3 - plenty of room in the camper to bring "stuff" home.

My favorite is Burkholder's in Denver, PA. They have a HUGE selection of fabric but it is a bit of a drive. My other favorites are Log Cabin in Bird In Hand and The Country Store in Intercourse.

My two faves are Old Country Store and Quilt & Fabric Shack. Quilt & Fabric Shack particularly if you are looking for (or just really like) flannel. I've never seen such a flannel selection in my life - an entire room of the stuff! Both are on Rt. 30 and only a few miles apart.

Zooks has lots and lots of fabric and is diagonally across the street from Old Country Store. My favorite is LogCabinQuilts in Bird in Hand. They are all on Rt30 just 5 or 10 minutes apart.

martin's is the very best with 3.79 a yard. burkholders is not cheap, but large selection. same for the old country store. and then all the others that fall along old philadelphia pike. also you might want to try good's variety store. the on in schaefferstown was really good for panels at 1.99 each. very large selection. then by shady maple there is another one. fabric 2.99 but very large selection.

bearland53, sounds like you might have to make a few more stops! Or put all the names in a hat & pull your 3 or 4 choices... Have a fun time !

Thank you - looks like I definitely have to make more than 2 shops

Zooks and Old Country Store are in Intercourse, not on Rt. 30. The actual address for Old Country Store is 3510 Old Philadelphia Pike (Rt. 340) Intercourse, Pa. 17534. Then diagonally across is Zooks. Another quilt store is there in between but it is quilts and quilted items only. One place I wanted to go is the Pa. Fabric Outlet, 2460 New Holland Pike, Lancaster, Pa. 17601. You would pass it on the way to Intercourse. If you can, pick up the little yellow brochure map "Free Map of Amish Farmlands", it lists quilts in the index and gives the addresses. Like Obie's, a fabric store like no other. It is stacked to the ceiling but if you want to match a fabric, she knows exactly where it is.
Her address is 1585 Main St., Goodville, Pa. 17528. Another fabric store is across the road from there. I personally go to Zook's and to Goods at Shady Maple. If you hit is right, flat folds are $3.59 or something like that, and good quality. Have fun, and if you want to camp near by these shops, the yellow brochure shows that too. And a map is on the inside. I never travel without it.

Oops, ragamuffin you are right.Sorry for my lousy typing. Zooks and Old Country Store are on Rt 340 not Rt30 (left out the 4). I just came back from Lancaster and heard that the Fabric Outlet was having a big sale as they were closing. I would check before I drove there, it's a bit out of town compared to the other shops.
There is also another shop that has nice fabric, just east of Millers Smorgasbord on Lincoln Highway called Dutchland Quilt shop or something similar. There is a windmill replica so it's easy to spot.

Oh my gosh! I just realized I posted on the wrong thread. Sorry!

my favorite shops (if I can only choose two) are Old Country Store and Log Cabin, but I love going to all of them.
