Acrylic surround
 

My daughter cut out a hole and dropped my Janome 8200 down into a banquet table. Now I need a surround to fill in the gaps. Does anyone know if there is a place to buy the right sized surround for my machine. Right now there is a gap behind my machine and I am using an acrylic ruler taped down with painters tape to cover the gap in the front. Doesn't look pretty with my wonderful new machine.

You have to be sure that the surround will fit the hole in the table in addition to the shape of your machine.

I suggest you trace the outline of your table cut and your machine--take it to Lowe's or Home Depot, or another supply store and get them to cut you a surround from plexiglas. My hubby made me a table of plexiglas- fitted to my Pfaff machine, and found adjustable legs at Lowe's. The entire table cost him less than $20, but I think that a surround only would be very much less expensive!

They are pretty pricey. I bought one out of plastic and it didn't last too long. I like mermaid suggestion if you have someone to help you.

I did do this for my machine. My suggestion would be to trace the cut out on to cardboard. Do you have the out line of your machine? If not maybe someone would give you this from their insert. You need these measurements to be accurate and to figure out how far in the machine will sit from the front of the hole. Once you have these measurements you can take it to a glass cutter and they will be able to cut the material and router a lip for you. You don't want a tight fit, but you don't want it sloppy either.
