Machine shed update

Not that it's changed a lot - but the sheetrock is taped and sanded - almost ready for painting.

Since it's a "shed" DH is running all the electrical in conduit on the walls. Will be row of outlet around the permimeter - they will be controlled by two switches (two runs) so I can turn off everything that way. Will be a ceiling fan overhead, and a row of tracklights each side, plugged in to the outlets, so they will also go on/off with the stitch.

I know the workroom takes up a lot of the space. DH and I talked about this in length, and decided it was worth going that route as the workroom is very important to both of us. The rest is just nice storage and display. We will be glad to welcome visitors by appointment, but that isn't our main reason for doing this. Some day we'd like to have more of a traveling show - and go to TOGA and other get-togethers.

This is the bench that will go in the workroom - I took this out of my Dad's woodworking shop - he got it out of my grand dad's garage (his FIL).

Here is the view of the back of the house from the Shed door.

DH is sort of working on it today - he was cleaning up his shop, and burning some stuff in the wood stove. Decided not to waste the heat so got out his crucible, and now has a pile of lead ingots . . .

Very nice, sounds well thought out!

It is moving along and looks great.

Looks great! The time you're spending on the finish work now will pay for itself many times over. There won't be any regrets about not doing a good job or not insulating and finishing the walls later. Personally I hate sanding sheetrock and would be really tempted to take shortcuts at this stage. I think the conduit is a great idea. It will be relatively easy to make changes later if you choose.

It looks great. Very peaceful out there?

I forgot to compliment you on your bench. There aren't too many good antique woodworking benches out there. One with a family history is even better. I wouldn't mind seeing a few more pictures of it. ;)

/I am loving watching it all come together and the bench with a family history is wonderful. I love that part the best!

It's looking good!

Cathy, your shed is looking wonderful! It's almost like a "second" house! Enjoy it to the fullest. The workbench looks similar to one my husband (and son) has -- My husband built it probably 30-40 years ago! I'm really happy for you. We put up a 24 X 48 structured steel building "back in the trees", and had plans to finish it, separating various sections of it for working areas, including sewing, electronics for my son and woodworking for my husband. When my husband passed away, suddenly there was only my son able to work on it and it was risky for him to work on it by himself with what had to be done. Because I wasn't able to help my son with it, things rather came to a screeching stop.

Great job! Enjoy it!

You guys are doing a great job. I love the quiet peaceful countryside where you live. I grew up in the country and loved it so much. We now live just outside the city limits on 2 acres and again it is so peaceful and quiet. Just love the Spring mornings and listening to the birds.
