I QUIT - no more vintage sewing machines
2 Attachment(s)
I'm over it.
Maybe I have flipped out or otherwise lost my marbles. I have decided to quit on the vintage and antique sewing machines - I'm done. I'm not messing around with any more vintage sewing machines - I've had it. I fully realize no more of those vintage sewing machines will ever be made - I hear that some of those new ones practically sew it for you. I want one. I want one that stops where I tell it to. I want one that doesn't need to have the tension adjusted - not ever - nope I'm done. I want a nice looking straight stitch on there but I want one that does decorative stitches that my DGKs will love. I want one that will cut the edges and sew seams all at one time. I want one that isn't funky colored - white is so much easier on the eye. I'm sick of decals. No more for me. No more cracked or crumbling wires. AND I want a foot pedal or a knee controller that never gets too hot. No more odd sized needles. I want something that doesn't weigh 35 lbs. NO I DON'T want a Featherweight not even in white - scrap metal.... My foot is too sore to treadle - even on a good day those treadles only want to go the wrong way for me anyway. I'm tired of trying to find parts. I'm tired of trying to find disks - why not just push a couple buttons. OK I'm over it. I'm done. Here are a start for my new herd: |

Aww... miriam, we love you! Please don't give up on the oldies. They are lovely treasures. You've spent much time and energy tinkering with them, and sharing your vast knowledge about them. And this sharing, we really do appreciate!! :)

Oh Miriam what I am I going to do now? I guess no more vintage parts from you... I need to get to Indy again so I can get into the stash before you get rid of them. Oh no, Oh no Miriam you just can't.

shudder.... (I hate April 1st...)

Hehehe - but all those reasons are why I don't sew on my vintage machines as my MAIN machine. I also wouldn't drive a vintage car as my main vehicle, and as much as I love the homesteading lifestyle - I won't give up electricity - or indoor plumbing.
Happy 4-1 to you too! |
I bought a baby-lock serger and it has sat in the box for 20 years. I didn't like the thickness of the seams when I tried quilting on it. I always have wanted a Singer featherweight but never could find one at a garage sale or at a resale store. Living in the city does have it's disadvantages. :(
I am quilting on my Bernina 1530. It is getting up there in years but it is NOT an antique yet?? Running as smooth as the day I bought it new out of the box. |
Good one lol you almost had me until I saw the Sensor Sew.

I don't know what, or where, or when to go to someone else. What will we all do?
