Pfaff 7550
I have a Pfaff 7550 that I bought approximately 25 years ago. My screen has gone out and it isn't responding to stitch changes either. Does anyone know if this is worth fixing?

Have you spoken to a repairman? Maybe it's just nothing with such machine the price of repair is less than new machine!

Check ebay SOLD listings to see what the machine is actually selling for. This should give you an idea of what it's worth and you can balance that against the estimated repair.

Turn the machine on its side. If there is a battery case there, change the batteries. The 1470 and 7500 series used batteries. If a battery change doesn't work, it could be the board, and not worth fixing.

This is a difficult decision for you to make. I would first take it in and get an estimate. They can tell you if it is worth fixing or not.

I'm having the same problems with my Viking D1. The screen hasn't gone out completely yet but I can't get into the adjustment section at the bottom. Its like the screen has moved down a bit. I have most all the feet to this machine and I love it dearly for piecing so will be checking on the price of a new screen before too long.

I have a 7570 and there is a small wheel under the front screen that adjusts the screen contrast. It is very hard to see if you are not looking for it, I do not know if that is on your machine but it is worth looking for, maybe it got accidentally turned if it has one. I also have the older Pfaff 1475 and just short of selling a kidney to pay for repair costs I would have mine fixed. I just used the 1475 to do a home dec project that my newer machines would not sew through.

Have you checked the batteries? My machine is about the same age as yours. I have a 7570 and had a similar problem several months ago. Took it to the shop. Fortunately it was only the batteries that needed replacing. These older Pfaffs have two AA batteries. Look on the bottom of your machine.
