Ruler with 7/8 inch markings?
Good morning everyone! Hope you all are having a great day this Tuesday!
I need a ruler that is marked with 1/8" to 7/8" markings to cut some 3 7/8" squares. Do any of you have special rulers with these markings or do I just use what I have and "guessestimate" the 7/8"? Thanks in advance for any info on this. I am not a beginner but I am not an expert either! Thanks! |
The omnipresent rulers have 1/8 inch markings. If you are cutting for HST many quilter cut up to the 1/4 inch and trim picks down after seeing

That is omnigrid rulers. Darned spellcheck

I looked at all my rulers and they all have 1/8" markings. I have Fiskars and Omnigrid both.

I hate that measurement as I have never found a ruler like that and I have a hard time with it. I would sure buy one if I could find one.

all my rulers have the eighth markiungs, too. but if it calls the the 7/8" for HSTs, i would cut the squares to the next full inch and trim the finished block down with my square up ruler.

I too always round up and then trim after pressing. I have Omnigrid and they all have 1/8" dashes, not a continuous line. Some quilters use the Omnigrid 0.25'' x 21 Yds Glow Line Tape to mark particular lines. Can be found on JAF online:

I have a ruler that only has 7/8" markings. I bought it a few years ago.
