Accuquilt vs. Sizzix Which one would you buy and why?
 

Hi Everyone,

I need help!! I want to buy a die cutter but I can't seem to decide which one to buy...Accuquilt or Sizzix. I would love to hear people experiences with either one likes/dislikes.

I have looked at both websites and their dies. I like some dies at Accuquilt and then I like some dies on Sizzix. Are the dies interchangeable? If so, which big die cutter would you buy?

I would purchase a Fiskars Fuse die cutter (clearance at Jo-Ann's right now), and then use any die I wanted in it. :-)

It won't take the Accuquilt Studio dies because they're too thick. But it does wonderfully well (with adapters) on the other dies. It's 12" wide which is nice, and has a great gear ratio (not so many turns necessary).
It's not too big, and folds up for storage.

That could be a possibility. I'll check it out. I have been leaning towards an Accuquilt

I use a Sizzix. I kept my Big Kick from years ago just for embossing. Using it for quilt dies now. It will do Accuquilt dies but you need a shim.

It depends on your budget, how much room you have, and what you are going to use it for. If you can make the investment, I would go for the Accuquilt Studio2 (the sale price is great). I have a Studio and you can use almost every die on the market. Also, the Studio2 has an advantage over the Studio in the fact that you can now fold it up for easier storage.

I cannot comment on the others, but I love my Accuquilt Go Big electric that Hubby gave me for Christmas. Have the reg size also, but prefer not to crank. Studio 2 looks great, but dies are more pricey and my space is limited.

Sizzix can use both. Accuquilts dies are thinner so sizzix can't be used in them, however their smaller dies tend to be wider so not all of them can be used in the big shot due to the width so if you have the funds I would invest in the big shot pro. I just have the big shot, have no issues with it, just don't care for the cost of dies and now that I have my scanncut don't really need it but do have afew dies like the drunkards path and rag die plus a few appliques

The Sizzix dies are thicker than the Accucut GO! dies, so you can potentially use the go dies in the Sizzix cutter (with a shim), but you cannot use the Sizzix dies in the GO. This is assuming that the width of the machine will accommodate the specific die. The Accucut studio will accept any die with the appropriate shim.

I have also been checking out die cutters & appreciate all the comments. Does anyone have the Sizzix Vagabond? I'm mainly thinking of cutting strips & squares & this machine is electric. Don't really want to go the crank route.
