A wild tote bag and more bionic gear bags :)

Just finished sewing this fun tote bag! A few years ago at a quilt retreat, I took a class where we sewed a gazillion teensy strips of batik fabric together. My piece was about a yard and a half, and freaking neon green and for years I've wondered what to do with it. Today, inspiration hit and I cut part of it up and made a tote bag, adding some purple fabric from my stash :)
I pre quilted the fabric onto Soft and Stable on my longarm. Thread was variegated King Tut, and the top stitching was done with 12wt. Sulky cotton. I also finished a couple more bionic gear bags. |
All the bags are really nice. Very creative. The purple & green bag is brilliant :-)

Love all of those bags!

Great use of that piece of batik from the quilt retreat - it's perfect in the tote. Do you sew up the Bionic bags assembly-line style when doing multiples?

Super bags!

Thanks ladies! No, I do the BGB's one at a time. I'm a quilter, not a seamstress... I find them difficult to sew and need the sense of "whew, I made it" upon completion. LOL

Great bags. I would like to try a bionic gear bag but it looks somewhat intimidating.

Great tote and gear bags! What a great way to use your "fabric"!

OMG! I love your work so much! Inspiring is all I can say. Good thing I don't live close to you, I would be begging for that navy blue paisley bionic bag for sure. Navy blue is really a favorite of mine. But, I have the pattern and can make one.
I am making my sister in laws bags for Christmas now. They are in sports themes that they have been involved in their whole lives. Tennis, golf, swimming and basketball. It was so fun to hunt for the fabrics and I finally found the last one today... Bowling! What a kick to play with these fabrics. |
Well that was worth the wait!
