Let's talk cases, cleaning and repair
 

my new baby...filthy. I love the rust and creme though and would rather clean it than strip it.

And there are so many ways to trash something inadvertently.

The clips seem sturdy, just stiff from rust but I don't see a way to get them off other than prying.
How to clean and with what while attached to the case?

Suggestions and advice Please? Thanks, I so appreciate and value the members here.

I really am curious about the hinges. do you just pry them up? how do you reattach? will the holes be ok?

I would try Murphy's oil soap and a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. So you can wipe it dry with a thick towel/rag as you go. Try it in an inconspicuous spot or a bit of Woolite

Leave the hinges in the case you can easily clean around them with a QTip.
