Singer Puzzle Box Attachments

Hi everyone,
I was considering getting a singer puzzle box attachment set, as my machine didn't come with any attachments. My question was, are the attachments universal? Will any of the 1889 patented Greist attachments work with my 1912-1920 Singer 115?

i'll let the experts tell you that one.

yes and no - some of the very old machines had narrower feed dogs, and the foot is a bit different. It may or may not line up exactly with the dogs on your machine - but it will fit.

And if you get a set for a VS machine, some of the pieces won't fit on your 115.

Why not just get a set that is time appropriate for the 115? They are easier to find and almost always cheaper too.

BTW - there are several styles of puzzle box sets - depending on Age. Most are the last style (11) that fit the VS machine. Most sets won't have all the pieces in them anyway. If you look for a Style 11 that is for a 15, that will be the most likely to fit your machine. I have a couple of very early 15's but have not compared them to my 20 -30 year younger 115. Though I know the 115 is about the same on the outside as a contemporary 15-30. Singer stopped offering sets in the puzzle boxes long before they came out with the 115.

Which attachment set would fit the 115?

Just about any of them that come in the green singer cardboard box. Just have to make sure it's short shank and not slant (that is for the 301). Older sets come with teh Tucker, newer sets come with the edge stitcher and gather foot. If you want both - buy two different sets. Probably cheaper than buying individual feet.

And then you can add the hemstitcher, and the zigzagger, and the guide foot, and the braiding foot, and if you really have a lot of money, the penguin (walking) foot.

BTW - the attachments can be addicting all buy themselves LOL!!

This is a set that I have for my 115. I matched them up with what was in the manual.

This is a later set with the updated selection (the others could be bought seperatly)

This is an older set I have for a 15 - they would all fit the 115 too. Those half circle looking things come in two sized, the smaller fits the 66, the slightly larger fits the 15, 115 and 201

And then you can get the Greist set - these are two that will fit Singers. However both of these have the underbraider and shirr plate for a VS machine, but the rest will fit the 115
