Experiment gone...GOOD!

I had a great idea or what I thought would be a great idea. Tonight I did it and it works perfectly. It makes it much easier for me to change a treadle belt. But you do need a heat gun, or a very hot hair dryer. I like the heat gun because I can aim it at a small area and not burn my fingers.
So here is my mini photo tutorial I have no idea how long it will last. It curves nicely around the wheel and it's quiet. The metal hog ring type clip that came with the belt was awful. I remember it was sooo hard to put on. Trying not to lose a grip on the belt ends while doing it was hard for me. Hopefully this will help someone else to easily install their treadle belts. The heat shrink tubing comes in all kinds of sizes, white, black and grey. Lorraine:thumbup: |
Hey!!! That's GENIUS!!!! Thanks.

Thank you. Love folks that think outside the box. Gotta try this one next time. I've used paperclips and tape(works pretty good), I've sewn the ends together (also pretty good).

I wonder if you were using the pliers designed especially for hog rings.

You are all very welcome and thanks for the compliments. :)

First picture there had me wondering why was there a hook thru sausages?? Lol

I may give that a try, but for added security I think I will slide my shrink tubing up on the belt then sew the ends together then slide my shrink tubing down and heat it.

Because they're "hog" rings, of course! :p |

That is an excellent idea for added security. And it will still be quiet without the metal ring rubbing on the wheel! |
