What kind of fusible do you use for applique?
 

hi all just wanted to get some opinions on fusible web for applique -- I have always used wonder under -- but in my last quilt show -- I was told by the judge to use a lighter weight product....so just wondering what you use/recommend? has anyone tried heat n bond feather lite -- was thinking of trying that...thanks!

I still just use Heat & Bond lite. It goes on sale at JAF which makes it affordable for my tight budget. Did know they came out with a featherlite.

I usually use the Heat & Bond in the purple package. You can also check out the Pellon website to see what they have available.

I always have used heat and bond lite. I don't do lots of applique. I have always been bothered by the stiffness that is added to my quilt, I like soft things. So occasionally I do hand applique so I don't have to add bulk to my quilts. Recently I found the featherlight, and bought it, but am having trouble getting it to stick, there is not enough sticky on it I guess. However, I did not prewash my fabric, as is recommended, so that might be the problem. Also, I heard on a craftsy class, that the featherlight, is not really recommended for quilts that need to stand up over time, but for lighter uses. Hope this helps.

Another heat and bond lite user here

I tried misty fuse (found on Amazon) recently and I really liked it, very lightweight feel. You really need two Pressing sheets though as it's not paper backed.

I like Soft Fuse best of all. It is very light. A quilt shop near me buys it in a large roll and repackages it in one yard quantities. It is 37" wide.
