Hello all,

With all the rain, one can't do much outside work so I decided to build a case to hold the 1922 66 Red Eye. All I need to do to the 66 is locate a spring for the bobbin winder and either add a motor/controller or a hand crank. The case is fabricated from cedar fence board short pieces from a fencing job. Since it is a "Red Eye", I decided to use red felt to trim it out. I added a few pics for your viewing pleasure. The wood was stained with dk. walnut and top coated with 2 coats of wb poly satin finish. Chow for now.

Nice case, very impressive. If you have any more of the red felt, cut out a circle for the spool pin :- )

Mickey,

I have a stack of them made, just didn't put one on yet. I have access to a tool to make the felt pads and cut out about 20 of them. I gave a few to my sister for her featherweight.

Very nice!! I like the red felt lining you did on the box part, very classy looking.

It really seems like woodworking and old sewing machines are two interests that work very well together!

+1

Nice job, Rodney. I'm jealous of your woodworking skills.

To soman2 on your new Singer 66 base:

Nice work, Rodney! A few questions for you, as I also need to build a base for a forlorn 15-91 I am working on.

1. Will you share a photo of the inside of the case? What did you use to hold up the machine - did you rout out a lip to hold the machine up or insert posts of some sort?

2. Did you reinforce the miter joints with a spline, etc, or use internal posts to reinforce the corners?

Thanks very much,
Brian
