Kenmore Trispan 88 Automatic 158.881

Anybody know if I can get parts for this? The left side of the stitch width index is broken so no ZZ or cams.

I can still SS and FMQ but I really want to do all the other stuff too.

Is it an assembly or can that one part be fixed/replaced?

Maybe I should go to that Kenmore group on yahoo?

Thanks for looking.

:)

If you go to www.searspartsdirect.com and enter your model number, it will bring up diagrams and part numbers.

I just looked. They show the model number but only a few parts are available.
Your best bet would be the usual sources. Ebay, etc.

I use this model as my primary machine. It is a tank! I was fortunate enough to get all the cams, some extra feet and the cabinet. It just needed a good wipe down and some oil.

Thanks. I do have the manual.
I saw Fred Sanfords Sewing Machine Warehouse on Facebook when I was searching. I asked there. I am pending approval at the yahoo Kenmore site but I heard it's hard to get in there. The motor needs some attention but I can't figure out how to pull it out of there. I'll peek at ebay too.

I looked at Sears, and all they have is a belt, pin, collar or washer. :(

Mostly I was hoping you could pinpoint a part number. I'm willing to bet that stitch width index part is slightly different from model to model.

Looks like it's not even a complete list. It doesn't even show individual parts for a lot of the machine.

Dresi,
The few parts I have bought for mine I got at Sew Classic and Sewing Machine Parts Online. Some parts can be found under other generic parts. You have to do a bit of searching as some parts have different numbers. This group as well as the Yahoo Kenmore group are great for help and info. I have found very little info on the TriSpan 88s. Ebay is a good place to search. Good luck with your search and sewing.

So I goofed around with it tonight. When I read the book, I saw that the stitch width index was not necessary for cam operation.

Yay! Cams work.

The only thing affected is ZZ. But I can hold the lever in place by sticking half a clothespin in the little slot where the gap is from the broken thing. Success!

It's kind of mickey moused but it works.

:)
