Bernina Accessory Feet

I got a new #71 Lap seam foot yesterday and got to wondering about the other ones I don't have. I was wondering which specialty foot is your favorite here on the board and worth the effort to buy. They are on 25% off this week at my local store. When the feet are this much normally, that is a good savings.

I have a Pfaff creative sensation pro machine. I have 2 favorite feet. One is the 1/4 inch foot and the other is an open toe foot. I won't be without either one.

I have about a dozen feet for my Bernina 1530 but all I every seem to use is the 1/4" foot and my walking foot.

I use the 20 foot a lot.

I use my 1/4 piecing foot, appliqué foot, walking foot, darning or FMQ foot, zipper foot and my regular zig zag foot. I have a few others but only use them occasionally.
What I would love to get is the ruler foot for my Bernina. I think it is #95 but it is only approved for on a quilting machine rather then a regular sewing machine. Hope they come out with one for the regular seeing machine soon. I would order the Westalee ruler foot but I don't know if it will void my machine warranty to use it.

I've enjoyed using a couching foot -- fun and makes impressive looking surface embellishments.

I also like the needle felting attachment, though technically speaking, that's not a foot.

Tell us more about the lap seam foot. How are you using it?

The walking foot is one I can't live without. #20 for doing buttonhole applique and sewing on Velcro. #6 is the same thing as a #20, but it has a center bar with a hole in the center, so you can zig-zag over a crochet thread for gathering (works better than the #16 gathering foot). Sometimes I wish I had a #2 (overlock), which keeps the raw edge from collapsing as you finish it. And the #18 (button sew on) is one I really want to get. When you've got 12 buttons on a tablerunner, that's the way to go!

For my Pfaff Exp 3.0 I use a 1/4" foot that is 1/4" on both sides! It is a straight seam foot and is never off my machine unless I'm doing a decorative stitch.

I saw that tutorial about using the 71 lap seam foot for binding - let me know how you like it, ok?

I've only purchased 1 foot that didn't come with my Bernina - the walking foot, which I use a lot. Ask your dealer if other Bernina accessories are on sale - I purchased a straight stitch plate - which I use whenever piecing, very helpful.
