Sears Roebuck & Co "New Queen"

This beauty came to my house to live Sunday. I cannot seem to locate any information on her. Decals appear original as does treadle. Some rust (little) repair and oiling needed as well as cabinet refurbished. There is a book that goes with it but didn't get it... yet. There are 4 long skinny metal bobbins with it. Thanks for any help.

She should clean up very nicely!

Hi,
Quite beautiful. The New Queen gets a mention in the Sears article. According to this it was made by National. http://ismacs.net/sears/sears.html National photo album: http://needlebar.org/cm/thumbnails.php?album=260&page=2 National / Eldredge was the maker of early Montgomery Wards machines. They used thousands of different badged or stencilled names on their machines for the retailer. Enjoy. Jon |
Looks to be in great shape. Both the machine and the cabinet.
Glenn has a tutorial on restoring the finish on these old treadle cabinets. It's well worth reading. Rodney |
I always like the irons that have the company name on them. I have a Sears cabinet and base. but the decals on the wooden drawers are very fragile. You have a different cabinet than I do.

Very nice set up. Bet she sews up a storm.

Thank you - I'll search for Glenn!

Thank you very much! More than I have come up with.

man that is a beauty. I would not refinish that cabinet... I would restore what you have, a little oil a little care and that will be a timeless thing of beauty. Looks to have a very large and heavy ( a good thing) handwheel on it, I bet she sews really really well, I used a singer 27 in a treadle quite a bit ( same long bobbin type of machine as yours,) and once you learn how they work they are quite nice.... I like my shuttle machines ( I have about a dozen )
