Featherweight 221
 

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone has a needle plate with graduated markings? I am sure this is not correct. I am not sure of the proper name. I purchased 2 of the featherweights and one has the sewing increments on it and the other one doesn't. I gave one to my mother and it needs this part. I am willing to pay freight and for the part. Just please make it a fair price.

I believe that is the correct term.

Love those... I have them on several machines and sure beats what people are charging for the marked needle plates.

I got mine at Quilt Sampler Shop in SPFD, Mo. As Cari said you won't like the price.I needed three only bought one 56.oo + tax that was walk in price new Ouch!!!

I have one - I'm not offering it for sale - just a couple of notes about it.
1. My plate came from a 301. As long as it's the complete plate - including the finger retaining things (an off night, can't recall the name and too lazy to hobble to the basement and look it up) - it should be a direct swap. This may open some options for used plates for you.

2. I went back to using my non-marked plate because I found when I used a 1/4" foot with the blade, the blade would pop in and out of the marking on the plate for 1/4" and cause a really wonky 1/4" seam. If you sew with a 1/4" foot with the blade maybe try first for a bit and see if you even like the combination.

It's just an expensive accessory that sits in my case now.

Try looking up Nova Montgomery. I can,t remember her web site but she specializes in Featherweights __all aspects, repairs ,do it yourself maintenance, manuals,etc plus she sells many parts. I have found her to be very helpful and fair.

Thank you ladies, I realize how expensive they are. I was also looking for a zig zag accessory for the 221's. I keep on looking on the auction sites and found not one but 2. This bid also included extra accessories. If anyone is looking for any feet for their machines please let me know.

I would suggest using a seam guide or a foot with 1/4" blade. Much cheaper and faster too, not so much looking and more enjoyable sewing. There are a lot of different seam guides. Some screw down and some have magnets. Only use the magnets on a Non-computerized machine.
