Cleaning sewing machine

After my huge flannel quilt jobs, I decided I needed to give my poor overworked machine a good cleaning, before I started making quilt labels. It occurred to me to share info about my mini vac attachment set. When I bought my new sweeper I also ordered a mini set of attachments. There are two little brushes, a tiny nozzle tool. There are adapters to fit different size sweeper hoses. I use the brush-gently in the bobbin area after I remove plate and bobbin race. Works great.

I have that set too and LOVE it.

I have the set - just have to use it more often.

I had a set but it never seem to clean as well as a brush and pipe cleaners.

I've been using qtips. They really grab the fuzz.

I clean with a q-tip as well, and use dental brushes (tiny little bottle brush looking things). I dip a clean q-tip in a tiny drop of oil on the last pass around the bobbin case. My machine does not allow any oiling, but this tiny bit seems to keep her humming and get the tiniest bit of fuzz.

I just bought some new pipecleaners. they pick up lint and dust really well.

same with me, brush & pipe cleaners. the mini vac attachments didn't clean as well as i expected and not nearly as well as my brush & pipe cleaners. cotton swabs, i felt, left lent, miniscule, but no lint is better in my mind. my grand daughter was amazed when i had her helping me clean the machine i've loaned her with pipe cleaners  ..but her favorite part of the job was opening the machine up to oil and watching all the moving parts. yup ..she's taking after her tomboy gramma in many ways :o
