Silk and chiffon can be a bit tricky to work with. When I use them in a quilt I usually am doing either a quilt as you go, paper pieced one foundation pieced project. They are a nice addition to any quilt where you want contrast in texture and shine.

They would make a great crazy quilt. There's a company that makes pieced foundation blocks printed on Muslin. Can't think of the name. They have blocks for a crazy quilt which I have used. I used Christmas Fabrics, including a gold lame with Christmas trees on it. I had to iron it to a stabilizer before putting the piece in the block but it came out great. I even put netting over one piece to look like lace over a fabric. The blocks are easy to work with, all you do is sew on the lines in the order of the numbers printed on the block. I made all my blocks look the same but you don't have to. This company also made a foundation block for the pineapple block and I think a dresden block. I loved working with it and would do it again. I'd post a photo but my camera is out of order. Directions come with the panel of blocks and are very easy to follow for the crazy quilt block. Have fun whatever you choose. Be careful of ironing temp though. Good Luck!

I have never quilted with anything but 100% cotton.

Use them to make drawstring bags.

I have no pics but am working on some blocks for crazy quilts with different fancy fabric. Silk, satin, lace, etc. I shrunk the daylights out of some inexpensive muslin purchased at an estate sale and use that for foundation.

I use silk & satin for pillow cases because of health issues they are much easier on the feet.

I am in the process now of making pillows out of silks. Using a foundation, a nice new sharp fine needle. All is going well. I've also used silks and velvets in crazy quilts and have done embroidery on silks to add to quilted jackets. I love working with silks. A lightweight fusible interfacing or foundation is really important.
