Not sure if I will explain this correctly, but was at Walmart fabric center today and the rep that was cutting my fabric told me of an idea that she couldn't remember where she saw it, and I have googled but to no avail. Here goes
Something made of laminated fabric and possibly flannel where you store your quilt blocks for a project and you can roll it up and it has buttons and possibly elastic to hold it closed. Does that make any sense to anyone?

plastic table cloth with flannel like backing, used as design wall,( works great) blocks will stick to it. just roll it up for transport or storage. use a couple elastic bands to keep from unrolling. I have one this in the past.

They are handy. I have one that is a fuzzy fabric on the bottom and a piece of clear table cloth weight fabric on top. I will post a picture ..... I just put a 8 inch block inside to show how it holds the block. It is sewn across the far end and the three other sides are open. There are ribbon ties on the end for fastening when you roll it up. I put painter's tape on the sides of mine because I use the plastic by itself to preveiw quilting designs on my blocks with a dry erase marker. [ATTACH=CONFIG]545101[/ATTACH]

Could it be the "Quilt Scroll" Portable Design Mat?? - http://www.cseesquilts.com/Portable-...ilt-scroll.htm - It was one of those "Just gotta have's" that sits in my quilt room gathering dust. LOL, I have found the old Walmart $3 flannel backed table cloth to be more useful. Need a big mat - sew two together, need a small portable mat - cut in half or quarters. I now have a $30 wall hanging.

I do this but use skirt hangers. The elastic roll is good but I fold at the grids. they have yet to wrinkle. Easy transport and fits in a 14x14 plastic scrap craft box.

I made one a long time ago from a pillow print (about 18 inches square). I quilted two of them for the front and back and added "pages", one of flannel (or fleece) and one of regular cotton fabric. Then I assembled them into a book, sewing down one side only so it opens up like a book. Added fabric ties so I could roll it up and tie it and nothing would fall out. Put one block or pieces for one block, between a flannel and cotton page and I don't remember now but I think it held 8 blocks securely.

A friend who works in a physician's office saves the end rolls from the examining paper rolls for me. I make a cover for the outside and a cover for the ends of the roll. I line the inside of the roll with flannel. When I want to transport my block (s), I just roll it up in my carrier and then tie it securely. I forgot to say to add ties to close the carrier. You can also use Christmas paper rolls as well.
