I would like to find out the manufacture date on my recent $15 treasure, the serial number is #40102. She sews like a dream. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

There are few, if any, records for these machines. I have it's Brother badged twin which was purchased new in 1953 serial # 67431 so I'd guess 1952 for yours

Tom do you have paperwork on your Brother? I've always thought Brother might've had a presence here in the US earlier than 1954 when they officially opened offices.

I only have oral history from the woman I bought it from. She said her husband bought it for her in '53 when her last child was born. There is no copyright or other date on the manual I have for it either.

The Morse Co. made them. No longer in business. This is absolutely the cleanest Morse I have ever seen. Good catch. Oil it and use it.
