What kind of fabric is this?

I am trying to clean out my stash. I have no idea where this fabric came from or what I ever used it for. I can't even guess what to use it for - can you? It either has to go or I have to find out what I could do with it. Thanks!

I can't seem to remember the name of it, I think it begins with an "o" but it is clothing material.

Osnaburg as ManiacQuilter 2 said? Did you make any faux chenille or Rag quilts and use this between the feature fabrics? I've also seen it as lining for drapes. The look is much like linen with a loose weave.

Definitely not muslin - very loose weave. I wondered if it might be something like what they use to embroider on and then frame?

PghPat 04-16-2016 07:45 AM

Or even IF you could embroider (by machine) on it?

Maybe kettle cloth??

I think that kettle cloth and osnaburg are nowadays just names for loosely woven muslin.

I think it is fabric you would use for dish towels, I think they call it toweling.I could be wrong

but I bet it would make good dish towels
