Your favorite way to finish fleece edges?
 

I know fleece edges do not REQUIRE a finish, but what have you found to be the most attractive and easy finish? I just purchased two yards of a beautiful Christmas-themed fleece for less than half price and would prefer to finish all edges with a more attractive appearance than "as is". Do you blanket stitch turning down 1/4"? Use a decorative stitch? Would appreciate hearing of your experience. T Y

I have seen a Project Linus quilt that was crocheted around the outside. They said they used a little tool that made tiny holes, equally spaced and then used those holes to crochet onto the fleece in contrasting color yarn.

I use a decorative thread, very very thin yarn or a crochet thread with my serger and I have done lots and lots fleece blankets that way. It looks very good and it does stablize the edge.

I have done sweats, dishcloths, pot holders, etc. with crochet and knitted edges. I never liked the idea of poking holes in any cloth...I used embroidery floss or pearl cotton to do a blanket stitch as a base for the crochet.

There are rotary cutters that do scalloped edges. I make fleece charity quilts, stitch around the edges with a straight stitch, and then use the scalloped cutter. The quilts looked nice and finished that way.

My favorite way is an embroidery thread blanket stitch around the edge. And yes, I do it by hand while watching tv.

I used to tie mine, and now I use a pinking rotary cutter. Then I hand crochet with a very thin (probably baby weight) yarn. Just a simple single stitch if I am in a hurry, or a shell stitch if I want it a bit 'more'. I love the look. to me it just looks more "home made" than leaving plain. Which are you leaning towards?

I have been doing several with the 'skip and cut' rotary cutter. Crochet around the edge and then do either a picot or shell stitch. they turn out so cute and if I have a plain color fleece I find something in my fabric stash that I can cut out and applique on with a zig zag stitch. Because the fabric is so wide I can get two out of a yard. Had a lady come by and ask if she could buy one. Sold it on the spot. Love doing them.

What the knitters are doing in my church group is to crochet around the edges.
