Klutz Glove?
How many of you guys actually wear your Klutz Glove?
As I'm enjoying YouTube quilting videos, I wonder if these sewing bees actually wear their Klutz Gloves in real life. I'm preparing my Amazon order and can't decide if I should spend the money on one of these. Thank you. :0) |
I can't stand to wear any gloves while sewing. I tried the grippy type that is supposed to help you FMQ but can't stand to wear them. Hard to pick up threads and then the threads won't let go of the gloves!
On the other hand (no pun intended), I did chop my left pinky fingertip off in a rotary cutting accident, and had to graft it back on. Now it's healed fine but is lumpy and has no feeling. If I'd had gloves on, it wouldn't have happened. |
I bought the klutz glove after reading all the horror stories here. Must admit I only wear it when I am doing a lot of cutting. When cutting one or 2 things I am ultra careful, but when I am doing a lot and changing fabric and using my GO, I tend not to be so careful, so put it on.

Yes, I wear one. Every time. My horror story is half the size of a dime and thick as a nickel off my thumb. 9 stitches and an emergency room bill. It took years and years for the feeling and fingerprint to grow back. There is still a hard lump and a scar. Lets just say, I have an easily identifiable finger print, in case it is ever needed.

I just (two weeks ago) bought a pair of No-Cry brand gloves from Amazon. They fit snugly are less expensive than Klutz, and you get a pair, so you can have one in the sewing room and one in the kitchen if you want. I figured after 5 years of not using one, I was playing Russian roulette with my rotary cutter.

Would you ride a motorcycle without a helmet? If you will then you don't need a glove or safety tool when you cut.

I think you'd be better off with a Slidelock Ruler. It's what I use. To me, that glove would be a pia to constantly be putting on and taking off, and would disappear underneath fabric all the time. Just mho.
