what size for a chemo quilt?

A friend will be starting chemo soon and I always heard that its cold when people get their chemo treatments.. so I thought I would make a chemo quilt

What size do you think is good? I was thinking like 55 x 55, then it could a throw for the couch as well. But I have never made one before

What size do you guys make?

Thanks

I usually make them about 60" X 60"......or whatever works out with the pattern. So, your measurements would be great! That is so sweet of you to do that.

IMHO I would make it longer depending how tall the person is. Wonderful thing for you to do.

Mine are usually about 55x 66. When making 12 in. blocks, a 4x5 setting plus borders gets to that
size. And mine are backed with flannel for extra warmth and softness. Good luck with yours.

It would depend somewhat on the size of the person you are making it four.

A 4'10", 90 pound person would need a smaller cover than a 6'5", 280 pound person.

When I am cold, I like the option to cover my whole body - from the bottom of my feet to over my nose.

I make mine lap sized or 60" x 60".

I made one that was 54x64, backed with flannel for extra warmth and coziness, and made it a quillow so there was a pillow pocket on the back that was also a foot warmer when used as a quilt. I put a handle on it too so it was easy to carry when it was folded up. You're so nice to do such a thoughtful thing for your friend!

My friend is starting chemo and is using her single bed size quilt she made herself. Being a quilter she had plenty to select from.

A lot depends on how tall your friend is. I am 5'9" so I really liked the longer fleece blankets they had. The width was fine, because we sat in recliners, but I needed the length to be longer than 72 inches, because I wanted it under my chin and under my feet. It also needs to be light and easy to move because you usually have to get up a couple of times to go to the bathroom. A bag to carry a snack/lunch is nice too. My chemos were 4 - 5 hours long.
