And yet another scrappy! My addiction.

Last week I saw a blog with the blogger's new block 12.5 for her sampler quilt, no directions but easy enough to figure it out. It was very pastel and very pretty; I wanted a bit more color and wanted to see what it would look like all the same block in different colors. I made one block, loved it, then started grabbing scraps for the rest and cut enough for 11 more blocks, and started assembling them. I really didn't realize how the colors in the corner squares would affect how the arrows show up. If the fabric is darker than the middle rail and arrow point, the arrow sort of gets lost. But I am overall pleased with it, and here is my take on what I saw.
In conversation with a gal on the board, about this block, she mentioned an old block she remembered from years ago, she even sent me a sketch and a sample of the block so naturally I had to try this block, too. I used her pattern in the bottom picture on the far left. Love it, but was a pain to get those corners to match the arrow. Lazy me. I then tried it with the corner's quarter sguare triangle blocks in all scrappy, and still trying to decide which way I am going to make this next quilt. But am definitively going to make it. Thanks, Jan, for all your help and suggestions. She even sent me a sketch to make it in a 9" square! One thing I like about these bottom blocks is the wider rail fence center strip. It shows the arrow off much better.
Thanks for looking.
