will this work - or should I cut my losses?

When I make a quilt for a little girl I like to put a ruffle on it. I think most of the time I have used costume satin and I know I have bought slipper satin before. They all worked well

Now I am working on a quilt and for some reason I bought silky satin charmeuse. I don't remember why I bought this instead of the slipper satin, but man it has been a mess to work with. Getting a straight cut even ironing...whew

I have the ruffle made but I am concerned.. since this was so different to work with from the satin I am wondering how it will function on the quilt. I mean this little girl will drag the quilt from room to room from house to house... you know how kids are

Have any of you used charmeuse? Do you think it will be alright?

Sounds pretty ...haven't used it though...

i wouldn't. it's meant for lingerie and linings. i'm not sure how it would stand up to washing and having it fray out would be really terrible

I just threw in the towel...threw it the trash :) I will start ruffle #2 soon thanks

It frays like crazy. I'd pick something else.

I enjoy putting rick rack on a quilt for a little girl!

Not having used charmeuse in a quilt I would probably toss it too BUT I'd toss it into a play box because of all that work you did on ruffling, maybe it could become a tutu or (or 10) or something fun for a little girl to imagine with. Yep, I'm one of those people who can't throw away much. Thanks, also for the lesson on not using charmeuse for a quilt ruffle.

Glad you figured out what to do with your fabric. You just opened a new world for me. I have never shopped at fabric .com. Wow, they have everything a quilter could want! The wonderful quilt shop in our town had to close....so nowhere for me to get fabrics, will have to order! Good luck with your new ruffle.
