Quilt Batting Question

I have a client's quilt to quilt on my longarm but I don't know how the batting should go.
Is it soft side closest to the backing or the opposite?
I don't know what kind of batting it is, but I suspect it's warm & natural or something similar to that.
Thank you,
Joan

That's what I thought & I should've done a search. Just didn't think about it.
Thank you!

I never notice what side was where and never had a problem that I was aware of.

Not all battings have scrim. If you've never noticed that your battings have "sides", then you're probably fine and don't need to worry.
