Making 4 or 8 half square triangles at a time...
 

Martingale books has a video on their blog on how to make 4 HST or 8 HST at a time. I found it quite interesting. Here is the web address. It seems kind of long, but just copy it and it works just fine:

The only disadvantage to doing them this way is that the edges of the block end up on the bias, which will be easy to stretch. But the blogger says to starch the fabric really well to keep that from happening quite so easily.

What do you all think? Do you have a better way?

The 4 at a time method is how Jenny from MSQC does hers and I don't like the bias edges, so I have to re do her designs so I come up without them. I think I'm in the minority as it seems that most don't have a problem with them. If possible, I try to use the 8 at a time method, which does NOT result in bias edges. This is one of many variations on the grid method to make multiples. Here's another that makes a dozen.

I think the Jenny Doan way is not for beginners. Of course everyone can learn how to deal with those bias edges, but why not make them without. The eight-at-a-time method is just as easy to make and behaves much better.
