Des Moines quilt shops
I will be going to DesMoines next weekend to watch my dd run in the Des Moines Marathon, it will be her 50 th state to run a marathon in. Are there any quilt shops in the city that are a must see
Thanks, Terri |
Creekside Quilting is my favorite, and I like The Quilt Block, too. If you Google "quilt des moines iowa" you'll find a few others in the area, too. Have fun.

Have no information on Quilt Shops in the area, but just wanted to congratulate your DD for such an amazing accomplishment.

Thanks Maggie, I totally agree

Quilters Cupboard is in Ankeny. Tons of samples, ideas, etc. When I travel other places (which I do frequently) and check out other shops, I rarely see things that I haven't already seen at Quilters Cupboard.

If you 'google' Des Moines, Iowa, Quilt Shops, you will find three shops: Quilt Block, sells Bernina machines...love their shop and helpfulness there in Historical West Des Moines. At the Heart of Quilting (Gammil LA) Shop is just a few doors away from there and a very good candy store across the Street. Jo-Anns and Hobby Hobby is on SE 14th St. Creekside Quilting in Clive on Swanson has over 5000 bolts and very friendly service. Woodside on NE 14th Street has patriotic theme and LA services, small but very nice. The Cupboard is nice, but small. If you by chance go North (Interstate 30)to Ames, Quilting Connections is a very big store.... has several very good eateries there like Hickory Park, some of the best BBQ in the USA. You will find the Highway 28 goes North and South, and University goes East and West getting you where you want to go without using the interstates that go around the city. Barnes and Noble are on University if you want any reading materials. If you feel like a drive on Interstate 80 East, Crazy Red Head Quilt Shop at Newton is lovely in an old church building, and on to the Amana Colonies to see Fern Hill Shop and Heritage Quilt Shop. I love to visit all these shops every chance I get. Enjoy.

Others have mentioned the shops I found there, but QuiltingNinaSue, I like your suggestions, haven't heard of some of them. Would love to check them out sometime.
