Pets licking fabric

For some reason unknown to me, my dogs lick fabric. It can be frabric that is perfectly clean, but it doesn't seem to matter to them. It's very weird. I now make them their own quilts so they don't lick mine and everyone is happy. I was wodering if anyone else has dogs that do this?

My Corgi will start licking whatever is near her when she feels the urge come on...my leg, a pillow, the quilt. Doesn't matter , but she doesn't do it all the time.

You might bring it up to the vet next time you go. It might be a lack of something in their diet. I had a dog that had a weird habit, asked the vet about it, and that was what I was told.

I have a cat that licks my pantlegs sometimes.

I've had dogs that lick everything. I had one that licked the wallpaper in the bathroom and kitchen  , floors, blankets, quilts, rugs, me, my husband, the couch and just about anything else. Some dogs just seem to lick.

I had the corgis at the vet...just a habit dogs can have. I guess they lick anything in exploring their world.

I'd go with this just to be sure....my dog doesn't even lick faces (which is fine by me). But I have a cat that will lick my arms, hands, fingers etc....

I think it's the salt on the skin that appeals to dogs/cats. Fabric, maybe the starch, sizing....or just the scent of the human? We have a dog that licks his paw and if you don't stop him he will lick it bald! Seems to do that when stressed- holidays, too much company, bored.......

My daughters cat licks fabric too. She said it especially drives her nuts when she is trying to sleep at night so she has to shut her bedroom door to keep the cat out. It is funny the little quirks our animals have.

luckily, my cat will only eat out of her bowl. if food is outside of it, she won't go near it. I feel lucky at times knowing that.
