Hey all, Here's my most recent finish. It's about 30" x 38". It's part of a series that uses a number of mixed media techniques and materials. Thanks for looking,

Very interesting! Reminds me of a landscape picture taken from a plane.

Really nice! What method did you use? Hard to tell from the picture?

wow very nice!!!

Thanks Watson, the colorful part is a piece of Lutradur (a thick nonwoven fabric, sort of like Pelion, but smoother and more translucent). I used cardboard to which I glued beads and miscellaneous things I had sitting around the studio to make rubbing plates and used oil pastel to take the rubbings. The oil pastel was heat set and then I added fabric paints, Angelina fibers and Angelina sheets. Once that was done I couched some things to the surface and then played with the decorative stitches on one of my sewing machines.
To finish it I quilted the black background and then appliquéd the central piece to that and finished up with some Fmq in the central piece. I bound it using rat tail cording which is zigzagged around the edge. Rob |
Thanks Tartan and Quiltnmo.

really like this but want a close up picture!

I really studied this one. Very interesting.

I didn't know you could iron oil chalk and set it. Will it wash out? I like your piece. I keep trying to see if there is an image in there but I don't - just almost see a running horse - maybe moving through too fast to get a good image. I love the randomness and the color. The stitching looks great. I must have taken a lot of time to make.

This is precisely why you have to SAVE all your scraps! Well done!
