Travel Machine for Quilting
 

Does anyone have the Brother cs6000i for a travel quilting machine? How do you like it? I am on a strict budget after buying my Baby Lock and need a lightweight machine for classes. Some of the machines I looked at did not have the drop feed dogs function.

I have had my cs6000i for over 3 years and it is a wonderful machine. I bought it to take to quilt retreats and use it all the time for my sewing/quilting. It has never failed me. I have made many quilts and potholders, etc on it and it works great. two ladies from the retreat I go to bought one based on watching me and my machine. Personally I don't believe you can get any better machine for the money. I purchased mine on line for $140 and will get another one when this one dies. I also live in Northwoods WI.

I have the SQ-9050 from walmart Which has the same features as my travel machine. I adore it it has surprised me on just what it can do for a lightweight brother. the cs6000i has been around forever and hasn't been retired so it is very well loved. Also check out the SQ9185 that re[placed my machine at walmart it is also very popular right now

I have the SQ9185 and would recommend it to anyone. My first one broke down after several years of constant sewing. Something with the feed dogs and would cost $80 to repair. Since it only cost $200 in the first place, I decided to just get a new one. Still going strong.

The cs600i is a great machine! It was my travel/main machine for about 5 years. The only problem I had was breaking needles when I used a straight stitch foot because the machine is left homing and I would forget to set the correct stitch when I turned it on. Other than that, which was my error, it was a great machine.

Thank you for your reply. I think I am set on purchasing the cs6000i. I have a rolling machine case and it has to be less than 19 inches in length. That limits my choices unless of course I purchase a new machine case.

I had looked at reviews for different machines when a friend was in the market and this machine got really good reviews.

I purchased the 6000i as my carry around machine, mostly because it uses the same attachments and bobbins as my Babylock!

I had one, bought it maybe 8 or 9 years ago, great machine, now my granddaughter has it because I took it to a family wedding in case mending was needed, she also loved it! LOL
