pink and red

Hello everyone... have any of you made a quilt with pinks and reds?

In my mind pink and red clash and I should not put them together... but I am making a Strawberry Shortcake quilt - and that girl has pink and red

but I don't want to make an eyesore quilt

any thoughts?

If the pink and red are in the same shade range, I think it could be very nice. If you look at paint chips, taking the darkest and lightest on the same strip, they can combine in one room. Why not the same for fabric? I think I would look at fabric lines that offer both colours because they should not clash. Then add some white for brightness or black or grey for drama and off you go!

This is my thought as well. As long as you have some that are in the same color families you should be just fine.

Pink and red on valentines look fantastic. Pink is just red with a lot of white in it isn't it? I know I've heard that a lot of people think they clash...an idea I've never understood.

I'm 54 and ever since I was in 1st grade, I've seen valentines that were beautiful that had both red and pink on them.

My Mama always told me that pink and red clash, as well as green and blue. Perish the thought of red and purple together! I think that's an old wives tale sort of thing nowadays. If everybody stuck to this, there'd be no Red Hat Society now. I've seen these colors together lots of times and I think they go together very well. I say as long as you like it, anything goes!

btiny36 - your quilt is gorgeous!!

Libster -maybe your momma talke to my momma and that's where I got it :)

I am not sure I can judge the "shade range" the best. :) Maybe I will take picture of my fabrics together and post them here for opinions before I sew anything together

Thank you so much for your thoughts

I also think pink and red go together. Just look at all of the Valentine fabrics and there is alot of pink and red. As long as they are of the same value I feel it would work great together.
