What to do with used rotary blades
 

I have always had problems disposing of my used rotary blades. Last week I took an empty pill bottle, a short wide one, and used it to put my 45mm used blades. Works like a charm and is safe to dispose of when it is full.

I have an old film holder that holds them.

I buy 5 new blades at a time and use the old plastic containers they came in to dispose of used ones. Of course, I use a Sharpie to mark the container "used". I usually mark an X on the old blade also.

I've been collecting mine in a coffee can (those small flavored coffees) so that once it is full I can just tape the can shut and throw it away.

for 60mm blades, use a 2 liter pop bottle and cut a slot near the top where it stops slanting--you can just slide them in (either size) and pitch when "full"--we use these at quilt retreats.

I use an empty, clean Parmesan Cheese shaker. I can drop the rotary blades (and razor blades in the wide opening, and old pins and needles in the opening with the holes. They last a LONG time. I've had this one for about 3 years, and it's not even close to being full!

This is what I do also. but when i don't have an empty 5 pac kcase, i mark the used blade with a marker and put it at the back of the stack.

I mark the old container and put the used blades in it and then throw it away. I do the same with sewing machine needles. I think the idea of the cheese container is great-might give it a try.

Yes I really like the cheese container idea! I have a half full one in my fridge right now (of cheese not blades--Duh!) Thanks Cindi!
