Has a Jury Ever Rejected Your Quilt From a Show?
 

I enjoy entering my quilts in the national shows that are close enough for me to drive to. It just makes going to those shows more fun for me.

When my first entry was juried into one of these shows, I was over the moon with happiness. It didn't win a ribbon, but it was an honor having it juried in, right?

I have had many quilts juried into national shows now and have never had one rejected. I earned a "judges choice" ribbon once, but that is the only ribbon I've gotten at a national show.

I entered my latest show quilt in my first international show just to see if it would be rejected. It wasn't... This quilt has already competed in two national shows without winning a ribbon so I don't expect to win one at the international show either.

It just makes me wonder if the juries ever reject any quilts. Have any of your quilts been rejected by a jury? Have any of you on this forum been on a jury in a major show? Can you tell me how many are rejected in your experience?

Entered 5, no rejections, 4 ribbons, including one first. Keep trying.

I'm glad some quilts are rejected. I would be irked to see a poorly made quilt in a nice quilt show that I paid money to go to.

Sorry don't know, I don't quilt for shows. I just quilt cause I love the way it makes me feel.jmho

I've only been to one juried show where there were a few quilts that surprised me that they made the cut. I think some National shows can be much more selective then others. I had heard that last year's Houston show had several hundred more entrants that did not make the final selection.

Yes, I've been rejected.

One time it was a technical reason - the quilt size was wrong. A couple of times my quilt was rejected the first time I applied, and accepted for the second time. And then, there's one show that declined my quilts twice, so I am reluctant to try entering it again.

It used to bother me, but now I let it ruin one day, then move on. :)

I was accepted into the International Quilt Show in Houston in 2006. My acceptance letter said that they accepted 350 out of about 800 entries, so it seems more than half were not accepted.

Wow...I just finished my second small quilt to enter into a show and after your comment I am having second thoughts.
The first time there were 2 older ladies making fun of the quilts no matter who else was standing there. Then they would laugh and run off to the next. My self esteem was -zero after that. And now I feel the same way.

My quilts were rejected from a juried craft show, among the reasons given, they were too much alike, and not enough consistency. Scratching my head at that one.
